What we collect, and what we never do with it.

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version: we collect the handful of things we need to make your film and talk to you about it. We do not sell it, we do not rent it, and we do not hand it to advertisers.

Ask us to delete it and we will. The rest of this page is the same promise, in detail.

1. What we collect

Only what the work requires:

  • Your names, both of them, because they go in the film.
  • Your email address, so we can send drafts and the finished film.
  • Your wedding date and city, because they appear on the card at the end.
  • The story you write us and any notes about how you met.
  • The photos you upload.
  • Your order details: which package, when, and the amount.

We do not ask for, and never see, your card number. Stripe handles the payment and tells us only that it succeeded.

2. Why we collect it

To write your script, animate your film, send you drafts, answer your questions, and keep the tax and accounting records a business is required to keep. That is the whole list.

We do not build advertising profiles, we do not do behavioural targeting, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask to join.

3. Your photos and your story

These are the most personal thing you send us, and they get the most care.

  • They are used for one purpose: making and revising your film.
  • They are never sold, licensed, or shared with anyone outside the work.
  • They are never published (not your photos, not your finished film) without asking you first. See Showing your film in our terms. No is a complete answer and costs you nothing.
Please only send photos you own or have permission to use. Professional engagement photos usually belong to the photographer, not the couple. A short email to yours is almost always enough.

4. How AI is involved

These films are made with AI animation and image tools, directed shot by shot by a human being. Your photos pass through those tools so the characters can be drawn to look like you.

Those tools are run by other companies, and each handles what it receives under its own terms. The animated versions of you are stylized interpretations, not copies: they will read as you, but they are illustrations.

5. Who else handles it

We are a very small operation and we use a few well-known services to run it. Each holds data under its own privacy policy:

  • Netlify: hosts the website and receives form submissions, including your story and photo uploads.
  • Stripe: processes payments and stores billing details. We never see your card number.
  • Namecheap Private Email and Google: carry our email, so anything you email us passes through them.
  • Our AI animation tooling: processes your photos to produce the film.

That is the complete list. No data brokers, no advertising networks, no analytics companies.

6. Cookies and tracking

This website sets no advertising cookies and runs no tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no session recording. That is why you have never seen a cookie banner here.

Stripe's checkout page sets cookies it needs to process your payment securely and to detect fraud. That happens on Stripe's page, under Stripe's policy.

If we ever add analytics, this section changes first.

7. How long we keep it

  • Your photos and story: while we are making your film, and for 12 months afterwards in case you want a re-cut or a re-delivery. Then we delete the source photos.
  • Your finished film: we keep a copy so we can send it to you again if you lose it.
  • Order and payment records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Email: correspondence stays in our mailbox unless you ask us to clear it.

Ask us to delete sooner and we will, apart from the records we are legally required to keep.

8. Your rights

Whatever your local law says, here is what we will do on request, without argument:

  • Tell you exactly what we hold about you.
  • Send you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your photos, your story, and your details.
  • Take your film down from anywhere we control, if you previously said we could show it.

Email hello@savethedate.video. One person reads that inbox and will answer you.

9. Children

This service is for adults planning a wedding. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Children sometimes appear in the photos couples send (a niece, a nephew, a son or daughter), and those images are handled exactly like every other photo here: used only to make your film, never published without your say-so, deleted on request.

10. Where your data lives

savethedate.video is a United States business and its service providers store data on servers in the United States. The work itself is done from Mexico, so your story and photos are accessed from there. If you are writing to us from the EU, the UK, or anywhere else, you are consenting to that transfer by sending us your material.

11. Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS. Form submissions and photo uploads go straight into our hosting provider's private storage, which only we can open: no shared folder, no public link, and no other customer can see your files. Payment card data never touches our systems at all.

No system is perfect, and we would rather say that plainly than claim otherwise. If anything ever went wrong with data you entrusted to us, we would tell you promptly and directly.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the business changes. The version that applies to your order is the one published on the day you ordered.

Questions, deletion requests, or anything that does not sit right: email hello@savethedate.video or call +1 619 335 3335.
